Growing up near the Colombia River Gorge near Portland, Oregon, one begins to think of "The Gorge" in a fixed way. It's full of waterfalls, ferns, and picturesque creeks where salmon turn colors and die. The Gorge in George, Washington is just as scenic, yet drier. The width of the river is less, too.
