You would never believe how many beautiful, healthy looking children there are in Northern California who have H.I.V.. I met one, an eight year old, today. Her hematologist (blood doctor) and I had to explain to her and her mom how the drugs were no longer helping. We asked for permission to put her on a new drug. This drug is in phase one study. We don't even know the safe dose for the drug -- that's what the study is for.
